Beth Perry is a writer based in Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles.
Regularly writing human interest and entertainment features, Perry has interviewed Oprah Winfrey, Marian Wright Edelman, Tom Hanks, Jennifer Lopez, Jenna Bush, Will Smith, Pete Sampras and Nicole Kidman. She has contributed to People, Glamour, Creative Loafing, Sports Illustrated, NPR.org, and the Huffington Post, among others. Along with other media, the attention spurred by her story about a crooked police officer — who secured dozens of wrongful convictions against black residents of Tulia, Texas — helped lead to pardons for 35 of the victims.
A 2008 Journalist Law School fellow, Perry helped develop one of the Internet’s first-ever digital magazines, contributed reporting to the book True Crime Stories, and acted as editorial manager for the anthology Gone Too Soon. Perry — who has studied creative nonfiction at Oxford University and the Paris American Academy – is engaged to Geoffrey Bennett, a news producer and digital media consultant.
I’m impressed with who you have interviewed….Oprah no less. Remind me to touch the person who interviewed Oprah next class. Welcome to our class!
